How to setup the DI-704P/DI-707P/DI-713P (DI-7xx) with Optus cable: The DI-7xx provides Web based configuration. You can configure your DI-7xx through your Netscape Communicator or Internet Explorer browser in MS Windows, Macintosh or UNIX based platforms. Set your computer up to obtain IP address automatically: You can do this under Control Panel > Network > TCP/IP (linked to your network card) > Properties. In Windows XP select Local Area Connection > Properties. Connect your computer to the DI-7xx (using straight-through cable), make sure you are getting a link light on the router on the port you have the computer connected to. Restart PC. After rebooting check the IP address that you have got: in Win95/98 - go to Start > Run > winipcfg > OK > select your adapter and look under IP Address. in Win2000/XP go to Start > Run > cmd > OK > ipconfig /all > look for IP Address. It should be something like 192.168.0.x If it is not - do the following: in Win95/98 - go to Start > Run > winipcfg > OK > select your adapter and press Release All and then Renew All. in Win2000/XP go to Start > Run > cmd > OK > ipconfig /release (hit Enter) > ipconfig /renew (hit Enter) Activate your browser (ensure that any proxy settings are disabled. In IE: under Tools > Internet Options > Connection > LAN Settings). Then, type the IP address of the DI-7xx (the default IP address is 192.168.0.1) into the Location (for Netscape) or Address (for IE) field and press "Enter" For example: http://192.168.0.1. After the connection is established, you will see the web user interface. To log in, enter the system password (the factory setting is "admin") in the System Password field and click on the "Log in" button. Please configure the DI-7xx as follows: 1) Change the WAN type on DI-7xx to "Dynamic IP address" (from "setup" menu) and then save. 2) Then go to "Setup" menu and enter your computer name in the field "Host Name" (Get this from the computer on your network which the Cable modem was connected to directly the last time). 3) Save and Reboot 4) Go the "Tools" menu in DI-7xx and click on "Clone MAC". Do this from the computer which the Optus cable was directly connected to the last time. This will place the MAC address of your computer into the DI-7xx. Normally the Optus modem will remember and only authenticate with the MAC address it was working with last time (i.e the MAC address of your computer which the cable modem was last connected to), unless you reset the Optus cable modem. Thats usually all the setup this is required in DI-7xx. You just need to set your computer to "obtain IP address automatically", restart , and you should be ready to go. If the problem is still there, then please power off your Optus cable modem (which is connected to DI-7xx), wait for 30 secs then power it back on. Once the DI-7xx has sucessfully connected to Optus cable network, you will see some IP address information (i.e IP address numbers etc) from the "Information" menu of DI-7xx. When it is not connected, it will usually show 0.0.0.0 there. Note: Ensure that the TCP/IP of your computers are properly configured in order to be able to setup the DI-7xx. If the IP address of the DI-7xx is 192.168.0.1, the IP address of your computer must be 192.168.0.X (where "X" is a number between 2 and 254. Each computer on your network must have a different IP address within that range. The default gateway must be 192.168.0.1.). The TCP/IP environment of your computer can be configured in two ways. You can either set up a fixed IP address or it can be set to obtain the IP address from the DHCP server in DI-7xx. For example, 1. Configure IP as 192.168.0.3, subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 and gateway as 192.168.0.1. Also you need to enter the DNS IP address of your ISP or more conveniently, 2. Configure your computers to load TCP/IP setting automatically, that is, via the DHCP server of the DI-7xx.
