DFW-500 FireWire Adapter FAQ

  1. How do I install the drivers for my DFW-500?

1. How do I install the drivers for my DFW-500? (Back to top)

The DFW-500 uses the driver built-into Windows operating system or downloads drivers from the Internet. The method it takes varies according to the type of Internet connection you have. Before installing the DFW-500, verify that you can connect to the Internet either through a dial-up modem connection or through a Cable modem or DSL connection.

Power the computer off, install the DFW-500 and power the computer back on. The DFW-500 card automatically downloads drivers from the Internet. If you are using a dial-up connection the DFW-500 dials an 800 number just like you would if you were making a phone call. Then it downloads the drivers. The screen may appear to be frozen for several minutes. This is normal. If you have a DSL modem or a cable modem, the DFW-500 card downloads the drivers directly from Microsoft.

A second alternative is to download the drivers directly from D-Link. Click on the link provided to download drivers for the DFW-500. ftp://ftp.dlink.com/adapters/dfw500/1394.inf
